How to set production dates and daily hours

Start the schedule in Storiara from a first shoot day, add days on the board, change or remove a day's date, and set the daily hours for the shoot.

Shoot days are set on the Schedule page itself. You give it the first shoot day, add more days on the board, and move or remove any day from its own menu. A lot depends on these dates: the stripboard has one block per day, Call sheets and On set stay locked until they exist, availability requests need them, and budget setup picks up the number of shooting days.

Start the schedule

  1. Open Schedule under Coordinating. It unlocks once the project has scenes. On a TV show, it unlocks once any episode has scenes.
  2. With no dates yet, the page asks When is the first shoot day? Pick the date under First shoot day. That is Day 1.
  3. Click Start schedule.

The page header now reads the day count and the date range, for example "1 shoot day".

Add more days

  1. On the stripboard, open Add in the toolbar.
  2. Choose Add day for one more day, or Add days... to add several. In Add shoot days, type the Number of days.
  3. The new days go after the last day on the board, on the days of the week you usually shoot. Their dates are saved at once.

A day's own menu also has Add day after and Add holiday after, for a day or a dark day in the middle of the run.

Say Day 1 is Monday, March 2, and you add 9 days on a Monday-to-Friday week. The board runs to Friday, March 13, skipping the weekend, and the header reads "10 shoot days" with the range.

Change or remove a day

Open the menu on a day's row:

  • Change date... moves only that day. Its scenes, shots, meals, and notes move with it, and the other days keep their dates. A date that already has a shoot day is refused, and a date in the past gets a note.
  • Remove day takes the date off the schedule. Its scenes go back to the boneyard, and its meals and notes are removed. The confirmation says how many scenes that is.

Set the daily hours

The hours button in the Schedule header shows the current start and end, for example 07:00 to 19:00. Click it to open Daily hours and set Start and End. Every shoot day uses these hours unless a day's own times say otherwise. They set how much a day can hold on the board and the call the call sheet starts from.

If it doesn't work

  • Schedule is locked in the sidebar: the project has no scenes yet. Finish the script pull first.
  • The date field and Start schedule are greyed out: your role can't edit the schedule.
  • Add is greyed out for the same reason.
  • "That date already has a shoot day": pick another date, or remove the other day first.
  • You are looking for the old production schedule dialog with its calendar. It is gone. Other pages that used to open it now link to the Schedule page.

Next, see how to build a stripboard. The Schedule guide covers the rest of the page, and the shoot day entry covers how days are counted.
